Zhurong Mars Rover May Be Close to Death

The Zhu Rong rover landed on Mars on May 15, 2021. It entered hibernation mode during the Martian winter in May 2022. It was originally planned to resume work around December, but it has not woken up so far. NASA’s Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO) released photos of Zhu Rong on March 11, 2022, September 8, 2022, and February 7, 2023, showing no change in its position and a dimming of the surface spectrum, indicating The body is covered in Martian dust. The Chinese Academy of Sciences previously said that Zhu Rong will automatically wake up when its solar cells have enough energy to operate. In view of the fact that its wake-up time has exceeded predictions, and the Martian environment is dangerous, and the dust will seriously affect the photoelectric conversion efficiency. The chances of Zhu Rong returning to work are very low.
