The Russian Soyuz spacecraft MS-22 docked with the International Space Station suffered a coolant leak last week. Sergei Krikalev, executive director of Roscosmos’ human spaceflight program, said Thursday that he is working with NASA officials to determine whether the spacecraft is safe. The spacecraft was supposed to return Russian cosmonauts Sergey Prokopyev and Dmitri Petelin and American astronaut Frank Rubio back to Earth. If the spacecraft is deemed unsafe, Roscosmos is considering launching a rescue spacecraft to the space station. The three astronauts were originally scheduled to return to Earth next March, and the rescue spacecraft is expected to launch sometime next February.
