PS5 console sales top 25 million units
Sony disclosed in its latest quarterly earnings report that it sold 3.3 million PS5 game consoles in the quarter, with total sales exceeding 25 million. This year’s sales were not much different from last year, but revenue was up 12% as Sony raised the price of the PS5 not long ago. But profits fell 49% due to higher costs to acquire Bungie and game developers. Sony’s PS5 console sales this year are expected to be similar to last year’s 11.5 million units, and this year’s sales will largely depend on the upcoming year-end holiday. Sony has previously said that issues with the PS5 supply chain have eased.
