Possibly in part to persuade U.K. regulators to approve the Activision Blizzard deal, Microsoft’s head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, has promised to support Activision’s Call of Duty franchise as long as Sony’s PlayStation platform exists. The U.K. antitrust watchdog’s investigation into Microsoft’s $68.7 billion deal to buy Activision Blizzard has entered a second phase, with one focus of the probe being Sony’s dissent over Activision’s “Call of Duty” franchise, which it believes will let the company Summoning” withdrew from the PS platform, and the extension of the existing agreement for another three years is not sufficient. Spencer said in an interview that Microsoft’s plans for Call of Duty are similar to Minecraft, where players can play Call of Duty and Minecraft anywhere.
