According to the U-Boot mailing listinformation, project founder Wolfgang Denk recently passed away. Das U-Boot or shorthand U-Boot It is a bootloader primarily for embedded systems and supports many different architectures including 68k, ARM, Blackfin, MicroBlaze, MIPS, Nios, SuperH, PPC, RISC-V and x86. The project originates from the bootloader 8xxROM written by Magnus Damm under the 8xx PowerPC architecture. In October 1999, Wolfgang Denk moved the project to SourceForge.net and changed its name to PPCBoot because SF.net does not allow project names starting with numbers. PPCBoot first released version 0.4.1 on July 19, 2000. PPCBoot−2.0.0, released in October 2002, was the last version released under the PPCBoot name. It started to support other architectures, PPCBoot−2.0.0 became U−Boot−0.1.0.
