by After NPR and PBS, Canadian broadcaster CBC announced it was ceasing activity after its official Twitter account was labeled a “government-funded media” by Musk. CBC and Radio Canada’s news, sports, entertainment and regionally affiliated accounts are all suspended. CBC News editor-in-chief Brodie Fenlon said it will take time to evaluate what Twitter is doing, and the independence of news is the foundation of the public broadcaster. CBC previously stated that it received less than 70% of government funding for its total budget. Musk then changed the label of CBC’s official account to “70% government-funded media” and then to “69% government-funded media.”
