U.S. homebuyers start considering climate risks when choosing homes

Real estate agency Redfin’sReportA growing number of U.S. homebuyers are concerned about the risks of climate change when considering moving elsewhere.datashowIn 2018, about 62% of buyers who plan to buy or change their homes in the coming year are worried about moving to places where climate change such as sea level rise or extreme temperatures may lead to frequent natural disasters. The report is based on a survey of about 1,000 respondents in August of this year. The data showed that 69 percent of respondents who favored Democrats and 58 percent of Republicans, respectively, said they would be less willing to move to high-risk areas for natural disasters.
