Toyota may receive traditional car keys on delivery of some models due to chip shortage

With the advancement of technology, most people who own a vehicle will now use a smart car key instead of a traditional car key that needs to be inserted into the door to open the car. However, due to the current shortage of chips, Toyota has not been able to produce all smart keys as scheduled. Therefore, Toyota announced that for some models produced in November, the company will only temporarily give customers 1 smart car key and 1 traditional car key when the car is delivered.

Toyota issued a statement a few days ago, pointing out that due to a shortage of semiconductor parts, the company could not provide two smart car keys as scheduled when the owner led the car. Therefore, some models produced in November will only receive 1 smart key and 1 traditional plug-in mechanical key upon delivery, while Lexus buyers will receive an additional card key. . Toyota promises to hand over the second smart key to customers after normal production resumes.

Affected vehicles include:

Toyota: Crown, Camry, Prius, bZ4X, RAV4, Harrier, C-HR, Alphard, Vellfire, Noah, Voxy, Land Cruiser, Land Cruiser Prado, and Granace to name a few.

Lexus: LS, ES, IS, LC, RC F, LX, NX, UX, and UX300e to name a few.
