After Baidu launched Wenxin Yiyan, Aliyun, a subsidiary of Chinese Internet giant Alibaba, also recently released its AI chatbot service Tongyi Qianwen. Alibaba Cloud opened user testing of Tongyi Qianwen by invitation last week, and it was officially released at the developer conference on April 11. This is the latest Chinese cloud company to announce an AI assistant service after Chinese Internet companies such as Baidu and SenseTime, and to compete with American AI chatbots such as OpenAI, Microsoft, and Google. Tongyi Qianwen claims to be “a large model that specifically responds to human instructions, an efficiency assistant, and an idea generator.” It claims to be able to make summaries for meetings or documents, or draft copywriting, generate pictures, plan itineraries, and provide shopping suggestions. Even generate apps from functional sketches uploaded by users.
