In October, the HKEAA will launch an online “HKDSE Diagnosis and Feedback System”, using the DSE examination question bank over the years to allow students to answer relevant questions. Teachers can use about 2,000 multiple-choice questions from previous mathematics, science or business subjects to prepare papers on the system. After students answer, the system will grade students’ abilities, so that teachers can better understand students’ abilities and accurately estimate students’ results in the Diploma.
The system question bank has about 2,000 multiple-choice questions in the past 10 years, involving 6 subjects, including mathematics, chemistry, biology, physics, economics and business, and introduction to accounting and finance. Teachers can choose questions randomly or by year, or by topic or the ability to be assessed.
Siu Wai-lok, head of assessment technology and research at the HKEAA, said that the system will analyze their performance and produce a diagnostic report. Based on the assessment data of previous HKDSE candidates, students’ performance will be classified into grades A, B, C and D, which are similar to the HKDSE. Grade 5, 4, 3, 2 or below. At the same time, subject experts will be invited to explain the topic knowledge points and tips. Students can try to solve the topics that have the opportunity to do it right. Teachers will also receive an overall class report to improve teaching policies based on students’ strengths and weaknesses.
The DFS system will be launched in October in conjunction with the proposed question training. The HKEAA will provide question preparation training for schools participating in the services of the new system, so that teachers can simulate the preparation of test papers and revise questions under the guidance of subject experts, and share and communicate with other teachers. In order to ensure the quality of the training, 30 places are tentatively reserved. If the response is enthusiastic, more places will be opened. The service period starts from the participation date to August 31, 2024. The full-term fee is 50,000 yuan. Registration will be accepted from October this year.
