According to foreign media reports, Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced that the company is preparing to mass-produce the new car at the Austin, Texas plant, but it is not expected to officially start until mid-2023 at the earliest.
According to people familiar with the matter, Tesla aims to start mass production of “Cybertruck” by the end of 2023. Later, Elon Musk said at the latest shareholder meeting that preparations for the production of Cybertruck have entered the final stage, and it is expected to officially begin mass production in mid-2023. For more than one million people around the world who have paid a deposit of $100 For would-be owners, deliveries won’t start until 2024.
Tesla stopped pre-orders for Cybertruck outside North America in May this year, but with the current order volume, it may take three years for mass production to meet demand. Due to the limitation of the metal frame of the body, the Cybertruck needs the 4680 battery with immature technology to meet the required power, so the mass production speed is slowed down.
The final price of the Cybertruck has not yet been announced, but when the model was released, the lowest-end version was priced at less than $40,000. But Elon Musk pointed out that due to inflation and various issues, the specifications and pricing of the Cybertruck in the future will be different.
The Cybertruck was officially released in 2019, and it was expected to start mass production at the end of 2021, but it became “delivered to a small number of car owners in 2021 and mass production in 2022” in the January 2021 earnings conference.
