SONY says the PS5 out-of-stock problem has ended next year’s sales target of 23 million units

Opportunity Li La Feiyun! The general public finally has the opportunity to buy PS5? Sony said at the press conference yesterday that there is no shortage of PS5, and even said that “from now on, anyone who wants to buy PS5 should be able to find it more easily on the shelves of retailers around the world.”

Sony CEO Jim Ryan announced at CES 2023 that the PS5 out-of-stock problem is officially over. At the same time, it was announced that the global sales of PS5 have exceeded 30 million units since its release at the end of 2020. December 2022 will become the month with the highest sales of PS5 in a single month. In addition, he gave reassurance to global players at the meeting, pointing out that the PS5 hardware supply situation has improved by the end of the year, and it is expected that the out-of-stock situation will be lifted in the future, making it easier for consumers to purchase PS5 at retail outlets.

Previously, the PS5 was affected by the epidemic and the supply chain was chaotic. Due to the shortage of parts, the output of the console was insufficient, which kept the PS5 out of stock. In November last year, Sony pointed out that the supply and transportation of various materials have improved, and the output from July to September has exceeded 6.5 million units, which is higher than its own expected number.

Sony’s vice president and chief financial officer (CFO) Hiroki Toki said at an online conference in November last year that the sales volume target for the fourth year of PS5 (April 2023 to March 2024) is set at 23 million. Compared with the 2022 sales target, it will increase by about 30%.
