Shorter chip lead times show easing of supply constraints

Chip lead times in Septembershortened by four days, indicating that the supply tension has eased. The lead time from chip order to delivery was 26.3 weeks in September, compared to 27 weeks the previous month. Lead times are shrinking across all chip product categories, with power management chips and analog chips seeing the biggest reductions. A global shortage of chips has plagued industries over the past year, with automakers and others struggling to get enough semiconductors. But today’s chip makers worry about the opposite: excess inventory.
