Severely ill patients with COVID-19 produce antibodies that impair their own blood pressure regulation

Severely ill patients with COVID-19 spontaneously produce AngII (angiotensin II) antibodies that correlate with blood pressure dysregulation and disease severity.researchers at the University of ChicagoFinda considerable number of patients hospitalized with the new crown developed AngIIAntibody. The target protein of the new coronavirus is ACE2 (angiotensin-converting enzyme 2), and AngII is processed into vasopressin by ACE2 to regulate blood pressure. The specific immune response caused by the Spike or RBD proteins of the new coronavirus can induce Ang2 antibodies, indicating that AngII and Spike/RBD proteins have some epitope mimicry (that is, both can bind to ACE2). This study provides important insights into how the SARS-CoV-2 immune response impairs blood pressure regulation.
