RTX 4090 users posted photos on social media reporting the graphics card’s 16-pin power connector (ie 12VHPWR)burn. One user’s graphics card caught fire and smoke, and another found the connector melted after the graphics card died. Prior to the release of the RTX 4090, Nvidia itself came to the conclusion after testing different implementations of the 12VHPWR connectorin conclusion, severe bending and after more than 40 connection cycles can cause hot spots and in some cases even melt the cable. It is not known whether the affected graphics card is caused by a bending problem.
