Paris voted overwhelmingly to outlaw e-scooter-sharing services on Sunday, dealing a blow to companies such as Lime that offer electric scooters. In a public consultation organized by Mayor Anne Hidalgo, nearly 90 percent of citizens voted against the electric scooters. Electric scooters have been criticized for causing more traffic accidents. Many people have experienced family members being hit by electric scooters, saying that they have to look left and right when crossing the road, and they are very nervous. Businesses that supply electric scooters have complained of being unfairly singled out for the chaotic traffic in Paris. The mayor continues to support shared bikes, agreeing to ban shared electric scooters.
