The Nothing Ear (Stick) wireless earphones, which were unveiled as a preview at London Fashion Week earlier, will be officially released next Wednesday (October 26). Just as the outside world is looking forward to this new earphone, Nothing’s CEO Carl Pei Bad news for the consumer, who announced via Twitter that Nothing Ear (1) will be increasing in price next Wednesday.
The Ear (1), released in July last year, was Nothing’s first product and was priced at $99 at the time of publication. Fifteen months later, Carl Pei announced that the price of the headset would increase to $149 on October 26. In his Tweet, he said the markup was related to cost increases, but did not explain where the cost increase was causing Ear (1) to mark up by as much as 50%.
Carl Pei and later pointed out that Nothing had grown to 185 engineers from only 3 engineers at the beginning; he also pointed out that Ear (1) received 15 firmware and tuning updates, which is a completely different product from the initial stage.
