by After reviewing and passing third-party security analysis, the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) lightweight encryption team decided to standardize the Ascon series of encryption algorithms so that they can be used to protect the Internet of Things and micro devices with limited computing resources. For data creation and transmission, NIST expects to officially announce the Ascon encryption algorithm as the NIST Lightweight Cryptography Standard later in 2023.
