NASA has selected Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin to develop a lunar lander for the Artemis mission. The contract, worth $3.4 billion, includes an uncrewed flight demonstration followed by a manned Artemis V mission to the moon in 2029. The Artemis V mission will include a flight of four astronauts aboard NASA’s Space Launch System (SLS) and Orion spacecraft to the Gateway space station, and two astronauts aboard Blue Origin’s Blue Moon lunar lander for a week-long exploration of the lunar south pole . SpaceX previously won a contract to build a lunar lander in 2021, and Blue Origin subsequently sued but lost. But NASA decided to pick another company to build another lunar lander.
