Microsoft released the latestquarterly financial report(Q1 2023), in the three months ended September, the company’s revenue rose 11% from a year earlier to $50.1 billion,Net profit fell 14% to $17.6 billion. It was Microsoft’s biggest quarterly net profit drop in more than two years and its weakest revenue growth in more than five years. Microsoft said Windows operating system sales fell 15% in the quarter. A large percentage of PCs run on Windows, and PC sales have declined this year after a surge early in the pandemic. Revenue from Microsoft’s Azure cloud computing platform and other cloud services rose 35% in the quarter, although growth has slowed over the past year. Microsoft expects further downturns in its business going forward.
