Microsoft games will increase prices next year, Xbox, PC, Steam without exception- Hong Kong unwire.hk

Microsoft will increase the price of Xbox Series X|S games from the current $59.99 to $69.99 starting in 2023. The affected games include the “Starfield”, “Redfall” and “Forza Motorsport” series. Microsoft later confirmed that the new pricing also affects platforms other than the Xbox console, including the PC version and Steam.

Microsoft stated that the price increase is to reflect the content, scale and complexity of the game, and has nothing to do with the platform, and the game will also be available on the first day of Game Pass. Compared with other game companies, including Sony, Activision and Electronic Arts, who have raised the price of PS5 and Xbox Series X|S games to $70 in the middle of the year, Microsoft’s price increase has come too late.

Phil Spencer, head of Xbox, said earlier that he would not increase prices before the Christmas peak season, but games launched next year will fully adopt the new pricing. The rising price of games has made Xbox Game Pass more attractive, because Microsoft has no plans to increase the cost of this subscription plan.
