The iPad Pro 2022 with the Apple M2 chip supports ProRes video recording for the first time, but users wanting to use this feature are currently only available through third-party apps, as Apple’s native camera app doesn’t seem to support the format.

The Apple M2 iPad Pro was announced on October 18 and officially went on sale on October 26. The first buyers are now starting to receive the new M2 iPad Pro and have noticed that ProRes is not a setting option for the camera.
Mac Otakara notes that ProRes video recording on the M2 iPad Pro requires a third-party app updated for the new feature, such as FiLMiC Pro. At this time, Apple has not responded to a request for comment on whether this is a bug and whether the native camera app will be able to record ProRes video in a future update.
The new M2 iPad Pro is available in 11-inch and 12.9-inch versions, equipped with M2 chip, and supports Apple Pencil (second generation) hovering function. The 12.9-inch version uses a mini-LED backlit multi-touch display, and the 11-inch version uses an LED backlit multi-touch display.
