Hacking groups with Business Email Compromise (BEC) are shifting their focus to individuals! The Nigerian hacker organization Lilac Wolverine hijacked users’ email mailboxes in AOL and Yahoo, and then launched related attacks on the contacts in the address book, asking the recipients to help purchase gift cards to defraud. Such attacks often take emotional offensives, such as saying that they are unable to deal with related affairs due to the COVID-19 quarantine, which makes the victims lower their vigilance and assist in the purchase of gift card points. The resurgence of attacks using USB devices warrants increased vigilance. Chinese hacker UNC4191 targets Philippine organizations to launch attacks. Researchers said that although they have also seen attacks against the United States and other countries in Southeast Asia, the final targets are all computers located in the Philippines.
