by Elon Musk took to Twitter to promote SpaceX’s new satellite network service “Starlink Aviation.” The service provides aircraft with up to 350Mbps of network bandwidth. Because of Starlink’s extensive satellite coverage, users can use high-speed Internet service throughout the voyage.
According to SpaceX, Starlink Aviation will be installed inside the cabin and provide low-latency 350Mbps network bandwidth to each aircraft. Passengers can watch videos online, play online games and connect to VPNs for high data rate activities during the journey.
Starlink Aviation will be sold to airlines or private jet owners. The Starlink Aviation kit is priced at $150,000, and the monthly rental fee ranges from $12,500 to $25,000. SpaceX emphasizes that there is no need to bond long-term contracts, and installation is easy. Starlink Aviation is tentatively scheduled to be available in mid-2023.
