The Secretary for Security, Deng Bingqiang, responded today (12th) to the incident of the wrong national anthem being broadcast earlier. Deng Bingqiang said that the Hong Kong government has asked Google to put the correct national anthem on top, but Google refused.
Deng Bingqiang quoted Google’s response, saying that the search results are based on algorithm calculations, so the company cannot decide. But Deng Bingqiang believes that generally as long as Google pays to sell advertisements, the search results can be placed in a higher position. He also said that Google stated earlier that it would comply with the request of the European Court of Justice and must delete obviously incorrect search results, but it rejected the request of the SAR government and questioned Google’s double standards. He criticized Google’s statement as unbelievable, saying that Hong Kong people would not accept it, and emphasized that the Hong Kong government will use all methods to correct it.
Deng Bingqiang continued to point out that the police are investigating the incident of the national anthem played by the organizers of international sports events. At this stage, there is no evidence to prove that Hong Kong athletes or staff were involved. He also emphasized that it is a mistake for anyone to use other songs to confuse the national anthem. For Google The search engine showed a song related to the black storm in 2019. I am very sorry, and I think it hurt the feelings of Hong Kong people.
