The problem of suspected plagiarism in product design not only occurs in electronic products, but also in automotive design. The Sierra EV recently announced by GMC is considered to be a Ford copy of the knob control of the center console.
GMC’s Sierra EV is their first “electric farmer vehicle” and is expected to compete with Ford’s F-150 Lightning, Rivian R1T and Tesla Cybertruck. However, one of the noticeable places is that their center console adopts a vertical design, with a knob below to control the volume, and other air conditioning-related buttons are placed at the bottom.

After the design of the new car was announced, Ryan McManus, director of Ford experience design, bluntly said on Twitter, “Why don’t we give you the CAD design drawings of Sync Knob directly to save you a few hours of time.” The EV includes the center console design used on the Mustang Mach-E and F-150 Lightning.
