German media group hit by ransomware attack, newspapers and e-newspapers shut down

German media group Stimme Mediengruppe was hit by a ransomware attack on Friday (10/14), which locked all systems and paralyzed the operation of its media, even print or electronic newspapers could not be published. Stimme Mediengruppe’s media includes Heilbronn Stimme, echo, Brettener Woche, pVS, Stimme Logistik and RegioMail. According to the group, the hacker attack took place from Thursday night to Friday, and by Friday morning, most of the media was paralyzed, from phone calls, emails, print newspapers to electronic newspapers.
