With the Fossil Gen 6 Wellness Edition smartwatches preloaded with Wear OS 3 hitting the market on Monday, watch brand Fossil is also offering a Wear OS 3 system upgrade for the Gen 6 series of watches that went on sale last year. The website PhoneArena reported that Gen 6 users had been waiting for nearly a year, but the upgraded system turned out to be missing several important Google programs.
After the Wear OS 3 upgrade, Fossil Gen 6 watches will not have Google Assistant, Google Wallet and Google Fit programs, the most important Assistant program. The reason for the absence is that the Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 4100 processor used by the watch is not currently supported. For this reason, Fossil Replacing it with the Amazon Alexa voice assistant, the manufacturer said that Google has no timetable for support.
As for Google Wallet, it does not correspond to iPhone users, and although Google Fit is an independently downloaded program, it does not yet support the latest version of Wear Health Services, so Fossil did not put it in the update file. Fossil will continue to push the Wear OS 3 upgrade to Gen 6 around the world, and it is reported that users in India and Singapore can already update.
