EA’s new platform public beta will gradually replace the Origin program

Launched in 2011, Origin is the PC Launcher program of the game company EA. It has accumulated more than 50 million registered users so far. However, the program has been repeatedly criticized by PC gamers due to security loopholes and allegations of monitoring players. EA announced at the end of 2020 that it would replace Origin with a new PC program, the EA app, and now the program has finally completed testing.

The EA app has recently completed the public beta and is open for download as EA’s official PC platform. EA claims that the new platform is the fastest and lightest PC program on the market. Players can easily find games and content in the newly designed interface, and discover new games. The EA app provides automatic game downloads and background updates to get players ready to play games faster.

Players who already have an Origin account are automatically invited to seamlessly transfer games, cloud storage, friend lists and content to the EA app. The new program will allow players to link their accounts with Steam, Xbox and PlayStation services to consolidate their friend lists on those platforms.
