Services of South Korea’s two biggest internet giants Naver and Kakao after a fire in a data center on Saturdaysuffered a massive outage. The data center where the fire broke out is operated by SK C&C and is located in Pangyo, south of Seoul. It was built in 2014 and covers an area of 66,942 square meters. SK C&C did not disclose the cause or severity of the fire. Most services in Kakao and Naver have been inaccessible since Saturday afternoon, and the impact is widespread. Kakao byOfficial BlogIt apologised for the service interruption, saying the company had set up committees to investigate the accident, develop emergency responses and arrange compensation. Naver expressIts search, news, shopping, blog and other services have errors. As of Monday, most services had been restored.
