China’s State Internet Information Office released regulations on the management of deepfake artificial intelligence synthetic video services this week, which will require the industry to provide obvious signs in the cooperation of deepfake videos to prevent deepfake videos from being used for illegal activities. In addition, they should also actively review customer content to avoid spreading fake news. The Cyberspace Administration of China passed the “Regulations on the Administration of Deep Synthesis of Internet Information Services” in early November. Deep synthesis services refer to service providers that provide tools to produce AI-synthesized videos that imitate famous characters (or deepfake videos).
