Baidu Receives China Urban Advanced Assisted Driving Map License to Collaborate with NIO and Honda to Mass-produce Urban Self-Driving Vehicles- Hong Kong unwire.hk

At present, the pilot assisted driving function has covered expressways and urban expressways in some cities in China. The Shanghai Securities News reported that Baidu Maps has obtained a license for urban advanced assisted driving maps, which means that Baidu Maps will support car companies to mass-produce smart cars equipped with urban navigation assisted driving functions, so that car intelligent assisted driving can be applied to urban roads.

The General Office of the Ministry of Natural Resources of China issued the “Notice on Doing a Good Job in the Pilot Application of High-precision Maps for Intelligent Networked Vehicles” in August this year, announcing that the first batch of high-precision map application pilots for intelligent networked vehicles will be launched in 6 cities in China. One of the pilots, Guangzhou and Shenzhen, is considered to be the focus of implementing the pilot policy.

Baidu Maps uses AI in 96% of its data, and its road coverage exceeds 11 million kilometers, covering 180 million global POIs, and daily positioning volume exceeds 150 billion. Up to now, Baidu has reached mass production cooperation with Guangzhou Automobile, Weilai, Honda and other automobile companies. It is estimated that in 2023, more than 1 million vehicles will be equipped with Baidu Advanced Assisted Driving Map.
