Apple self-repair program now open to multiple European countries – Hong Kong

In April of this year, Apple announced the “Self-Service Repair Program”, which allows users to access official repair manuals, purchase genuine Apple parts and rent tools for self-repair, and then repair iPhones and MacBooks by themselves. The “Self-Service Repair Plan” was originally only available in the United States, but Apple announced yesterday that it will be available in 8 European countries.

In recent years, consumer rights organizations in Europe and the United States have advocated that users have the right to self-repair, but Apple has always held the opposite attitude towards this suggestion, believing that there are certain risks in allowing users to repair devices by themselves, including handling lithium batteries, so it took several years to carry out Lobbying against U.S. legislation on the right to repair yourself. Apple finally caved in April this year, launching a “self-service repair program” first in the United States, and promised to offer it in other markets.

Apple announced yesterday that the European countries joining the plan are Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom. Corresponding devices include the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 series, as well as MacBook laptops with Apple Silicon processors. Users who intend to repair themselves can purchase parts and rent equipment at the official online store, but Apple emphasized in the press release that the repair point was in the past The increase has nearly doubled in 3 years, and now 80% of European Apple users can find a repair center within a 30-minute drive, and they don’t necessarily need to do it themselves.
