Apple pointed out that 2022 is the most difficult year for the App Store since its launch, filled with a series of lawsuits and anti-monopoly actions, limiting the market power of the App Store, and forcing Apple to make concessions to the App Store business. Apple is still facing an antitrust lawsuit from the U.S. Department of Justice, and even allowed a Dutch dating app to use third-party payments due to an antitrust order. At the same time, in response to the results of the class action lawsuit in 2021, Apple last month allowed developers to set prices that do not end in $0.99, allowing developers to charge as they wish.

Even with all the challenges Apple faces in 2022, the App Store business continues to grow. Apple pointed out that more than 650 million visitors from 175 regions around the world connect to the App Store every week. Among them, the response of new social platforms such as the mobile game version Apex Legends and the annual app BeReal is more prominent.

Apple’s game subscription service, Apple Arcade, also grew, adding more than 50 new games, including Warp Kart Racers, Jetpack Joyride 2, Gibbon: Beyond the Trees, Wylde Flowers and Cooking Mama: Cuisine, A total of more than 200 games are supported.
