It was reported earlier that in order to focus on the development of AR / VR headset Reality Pro, Apple will not launch any new products in certain product lines this year, one of which is the AirPods wireless headset. Yesterday, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo posted on Twitter, announcing the launch schedule of two new AirPods. The new products are not expected to be launched until 2024 at the earliest.
Ming-Chi Kuo pointed out that Apple is preparing a basic version of AirPods that retails for only $99 and is easier to get. If the news is true, this will be the same as the second generation of AirPods, which is currently priced at $129, let alone the third generation of AirPods, which starts at $169. Another analyst, Jeff Pu, also wrote an article a few weeks ago, mentioning that Apple intends to launch a cheaper AirPods product.
As for the AirPods Max that has been on the market for the longest time in the current AirPods product line, which was released in December 2020, Ming-Chi Kuo said that the follow-up model will be launched in the second half of 2024 at the earliest, or even in early 2025. He revealed in the post that AirPods Max 2 will be released by Hon Hai. Hong Teng Precision, together with China Luxshare, is responsible for the assembly, while the previous OEM, China Geer, was not selected.
